How do I add a property?

If you’re looking to upload your properties manually via OnTheMarket Expert, select Properties from the Manage menu. Click on the ‘plus’ icon to begin.

If your properties have been sent to us via an automated data feed, from your dashboard select Manage > Properties to review.

Otiem assist

Once you select ‘add’, you will be prompted to use our AI-powered assistant, Otiem. Here you can enter the property description, and from there the tool will pull out the features and attributes of the property into the relevant fields, for you to review before publishing. This will save you some time, however hit ‘I’m not interested’ if you’d like to continue manually.

Select property type

If you list both sales and lettings properties, you’ll first be prompted to select whether the property is sales, lettings, or overseas (if applicable).

Set your Only With Us period using the slider to the right-hand side of the screen (if applicable).

Add your property details

You’ll need to complete the relevant fields underneath Basic info and Property details. If you’ve created or would like to add a new property template, you’ll see the option to select this towards the top right-hand corner of the screen.  Templates are useful if you have a particular format or many properties within the same address.

You have further options for Sales/Lettings details, Features & attributes, and your Content (summary and description).

Stay up to date with Material information requirements here.

  • What it is
  • Where it is
  • Property reference

Property type, address, and status are mandatory fields. The address look up functionality will save you time when entering the address, but you can select ‘My address isn’t listed’ to enter this manually.

  • Price
  • Bedrooms, bathrooms and reception rooms
  • Parking and outside space
  • Council tax band and EPC certificate ID

Price and bedroom count are mandatory fields. You’ll be unable to save and/or publish a property if any of these fields are incomplete.

Here you have the option to fill in additional information about the property, such as tenure type (if sales), accommodation type (if rental), condition of the property, whether it is furnished or has white goods included, as well as Shared Ownership percentage values and rent, if applicable.

Tenancy info is a legal requirement if you are a letting agent.

Designed to highlight the key selling points of the property, these will display as bullet points above the property description. Use the arrows next to each field to change the order in which they are presented.

Note: there is a limit of 10 features and 200 characters per feature.

There is enough room here for you to describe the property in full, and to describe the local area if you wish.

You can type straight into the Description box, or copy and paste text from elsewhere.

If pasting text, beware of any unseen formatting code that you may have copied from the source text by mistake.

Otiem editor

Try our new AI-powered assistant and let it help write your property description for you. Simply fill in the property details mentioned above, select your preferred writing style, and let Otiem do the rest.

Add your media

The Photo carousel and Documents & media sections are located to the right-hand side. Select Upload underneath each section to add your files. These can be uploaded from your computer or as URL links. You’ll need to specify your media type first when uploading media such as brochures or video tours. Use our Autoenhance.ai feature to enhance your images.

Publish

Once all the relevant information has been entered, select Publish at the top right. Selecting this will complete the upload to the portal. If you’re unable to save/publish, hover over the greyed out Publish button which will indicate which mandatory information is missing.

If you’re still onboarding, the property will launch on the website when we set your branch/development live. If your branch/development is live on site already, you’ll have the option to Save draft if you’re unable to complete your listing and need to return to it later.

If you’re new to OnTheMarket and your office is not yet live on site, don’t worry! You can publish the property now and it will launch as “New” to OnTheMarket when your office is activated.

Once published, the property will appear on your Property list page first and at OnTheMarket shortly afterwards.

If the map location is appearing incorrectly, select 'Edit on map' underneath the Location section (right-hand side). Drag and drop the pin to the correct location. You can also preview and edit the default Streetview location by selecting 'Preview/Edit Streetview' in the bottom left-hand corner of the map. To edit the Streetview, simply move the map to the perspective you want and then exit the map.
This option will only be visible after you select Edit on map beneath the Latitude and Longitude fields.
